Ferrer's Desperate Attacks; Bloomberg Riding High
While the supposed terrorist plot on New York City's subway system has disappeared, Fernando Ferrer's allies charged that Mayor Bloomberg used the alert to deflect attention from the debate at the Apollo last week.

This isn't worth getting into that deeply, other than the fact that while Ferrer and his allies state that Bloomberg is using terrorism for political gain, they are the ones doing the same thing. And it's backfiring, according to the freshest polls.
Quinnipiac shows Mayor Mike ahead 60-32 over Ferrer.
Marist has the mayor ahead 59-32 over the Dem nominee.
Tom Ognibene, on the Conservative ticket, received one percent in both polls.
What's most striking is that the Quinnipiac poll shows 54% of likely Democratic voters voting for the Mayor while the Marist poll shows 50% of Ferrer's party voters supporting the current mayor. Either way, Ferrer is losing substantially with his own party, who make up by and far the largest registration population in the city.
Further point for Bloomberg, according to the Marist poll, 84% of registered voters supported the Mayor's decision to go public with information regarding the subway threat, even though it was not long before the Apollo debate took place.
While the race may inevitably tighten, Ferrer dug himself even deeper into the hole attacking Bloomberg at his strongest points. This may very well be a disastrous campaign for Ferrer.
